Cruiser Murdered in St. Lucia

Associated Press has reported a British couple cruising St. Lucia was robbed by a group of unarmed men; 62yr old Roger Pratt was found dead, face down in the water by his wife Margaret next to their boat. I could not find the direct AP news link as their site is difficult to navigate but more can be found online at UK's Daily Mail website and also on ABC news.

It has been reported that the British couple in their 60s were in St. Lucia for 3 weeks, moored in Fort Vieux (an industrial town in St. Lucia) and were about to depart to Bequia. The retired financial consultants were halfway through a planned six-month sailing trip. Days before the killing, the wife had written a blog about how blissfully happy she was as they celebrated her 60th birthday.

In order to support Mrs. Margaret Pratt, I propose we ban visiting St. Lucia until there is justice served. I feel it is the least we can do to apply some pressure for a resolution. It may not bring him back but it is the least we can do... I love St. Lucia but seeing this man and how much he loved his wife and the cruising life makes my heart heavy. Please let me know if you agree or disagree to BAN ST. LUCIA until justice is served...

May he rest in peace.

Series of "Catch Up" Posts to Follow

It has been a few months (months! wow, how time flies!) since my last post. I got married, have dealt with health issues, holidays, and the normal distractions of daily land life. BUT, so much has happened that you should know! Following will be a series of posts to get you up to speed and expel what I have been holding in that I wanted you to know but haven't had the time to sit and relay to you. The impetus for this post being created NOW is sorrowful news of a fellow cruiser (not catamaran related but cruiser related and in one of the most beautiful waters I can remember). I cannot sit back without attempting to break the silence. Stay tuned...
